Welcoming Sem Ponnambalam to the CIPA Board of Directors
We are pleased to welcome Sem Ponnambalam to the Board of Directors of the Canadian International Professionals Association (CIPA).
As a global, member-driven community focused on international opportunity, professional connection, and shared identity, CIPA is strengthened by Sem’s exceptional record in public policy, international leadership, and strategic advisory roles. Her experience closely aligns with our mission to support meaningful global engagement and cross-border collaboration.
Sem brings more than two decades of distinguished experience across the public and private sectors. She has served as a senior advisor to multiple Canadian Prime Ministers and Federal Cabinet Ministers on trade policy, governance, and international relations. She has also represented Canada at leading global forums, including the World Economic Forum and the G20 Youth Summit, with deep expertise in global policy, trade, and digital transformation, particularly in cybersecurity, responsible AI, and post-quantum cryptography.
Over the course of her career, Sem has co-authored multiple AI and cybersecurity governance manuals, developed more than 30 advanced courses spanning AI, cybersecurity, privacy, and human trafficking prevention, and delivered them across North America and Europe. She has also built global partnerships with organizations including IBM, Red Hat, BlackBerry, and institutions within the United Nations system.
As Co-Founder and President of xahive, and as a board leader with the MAPLE Business Council, Sem brings strategic vision, a global network, and cross-sector insight to CIPA’s leadership. Her expertise will directly support members navigating international technology markets, global careers, and cross-border professional opportunities.
